Interview with Richard Freeman - Commercial Director Engineurs
Richard Freeman is a Chemical Engineer and a Fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineers. His career spans a total of 30 years in industry of which 5 years in design, 13 years in operations and 12 years in commissioning management.
Richard is now Commercial Director of a start-up company named Engineurs providing engineering services that include flawless startup and operational excellence.
It is unfortunate to say but there are far too many lessons that we can learn from past incidents. There are many valuable publications available such as those from the engineering institutes especially the IChemE.
As we discussed in our last podcast, commissioning needs to be step by step and rigorous. Completion management systems instill the correct culture in the team when set up by those who are mature in the field.
The more rigorous you are in following the steps the less likely
the catastrophic event but do not become complacent.
Engineurs have a wealth of experience in this field and we use our
Completions Management System named Pulse to ensure all the checks
have been completed and those categorized as critical approved by
subject matter experts before the introduction of process safety
risk.
Know the inherent risks of the process that you are involved with, keep up your guard, be prepared for the unexpected and above all keep your finger on the Pulse!
